Field Work
A vital part of our mission
Our work begins long before the teams reach the starting chute.
At Pike Dog Wellness, our planning and support efforts are already in motion even before the previous season has wrapped. We’re continuously strategizing how best we can uplift mushers and their canine athletes, not just during the race, but throughout the entire journey. Because at PDW, we believe in caring for both the team on the trail, and for the incredible people and communities along the trail.
With 2026 Iditarod® sign-ups underway, we’re excited to announce a new slate of initiatives from Pike Dog Wellness for the upcoming season. These programs reflect our ongoing commitment to the health and well-being of sled dogs—and to the people and communities who care for them.
This Season’s Support Will Include:
Initiatives aimed at direct support for kennels
Practical resources and services to help kennels keep their dog teams healthy and thriving.
Vaccination Clinics
Accessible vaccination opportunities to help protect sled dogs from preventable illnesses.
Spay & Neuter Support
Spay and neuter opportunities to promote healthy, sustainable kennels.
Individual Support for a Wide Spectrum of Mushing Events
From races to local runs, we’re committed to supporting the mushing community in all its forms.
Partnerships with Purpose
Support That Makes an Impact
At Pike Dog Wellness, we believe that dog wellness is a team effort, and we’re proud to stand behind the mushers, dogs, and communities who sustain this incredible lifestyle and make events like the Last Great Race possible.
We look forward to working with organizations like the Alaska SPCA to further our mission of preserving Alaskan history and connecting people, all while supporting a way of life that’s unique to our Arctic communities
